Kuma Dojo Association Karate-Do International

WHO WE ARE...

We are an open association of Karateka from many different styles/disciplines, and we welcome all  Martial Artists to join our family and to help teach the next generation of Karateka. As well learn from the past and present generation!

Kancho John “Kuma” Farrell, Judan, formed KDA on October 1st 2006.

Kancho Farrell has been involved with the Martial Arts for over 55 years. He holds Dans in Judo, Kyokushin, Aikido, Jujitsu, Isshin-Ryu, Shito Ryu, Koseido, and Kyokushin-Ha.

Kancho Farrell is one of the very few true O-Sensei's still living and teaching in an open and sharing manner.

KDA is removed from all the political issues that face independent Martial Artsists and all the politics that the Martial Arts in general face today.

KDA is open to everyone, from independent dojo instructors and their students, to anyone involved in Martial Arts who wishes to align themselves with a group of Martial Artists and to be able to learn from everyone in the family without issues often faced when one is looking for help and knowledge.  If you are already part of one group and wish to join us as well, that is OK too. We do not ask that you leave the group you are already a part of to join our Association.

All who join KDA will have the opportunity to learn and also to teach. KDA offers its members summer camps, winter camps, and seminars in several disciplines of Martial Arts, as well kyu and dan testings and teacher certifications.

Our Lifetime membership is $25 for a Dojo and $5 per student.

KDA and the Dojo Owner

KDA as an association has many resources to offer independent/unassociated Dojo owners and their students.

One big advantage that KDA offers is Kancho John Farrell, with his 55 plus years in the Martial Arts as well his wealth of experience in many disciplines (i.e. Karate, Jujitsu, Aikido, Kubudo, Judo).

Another is the KDA Teaching Counsel, who are all talented Karateka and are willing to work with you...be it one-on-one or in a seminar, clinic, etc.

Ferrell O-Sensei has been around the world and has learned so much from his many years within the Martial Arts community, the many great Sensei's he has been able to learn from and establish friendships with.

Areas in which KDA can assist you includes, continuing education, training, and syllabus building or assistance.

We all know that new and more advanced classes for your ever-advancing students is important. Retention for your Dojo is vitial for you as well your students. KDA can assist you with dynamic customized seminars and clinics in Kumite (point, contact, or knockdown), Kata, Kihons or Kubudo etc.  You can join in on our yearly summer and or winter camp or we can come to yours. Either way knowledge and interesting, dynamic experience is in store for you and your students.

If you happen to be in close location of one of our Instructors, weekly or monthly classes, seminars, or clinics can be scheduled, increasing everyone's knowledge and improving retention at your Dojo. We offer one-on-one Kata training, technique training, Kumite training, and etc.

Assistance at your tournaments in judging/refereeing, running or organization for Knockdown type events etc, is another area where we can help.

There is also the very strong possibility that you can offer us knowledge as well, and this is always welcome within KDA!!!

An independent Martial Artist faces many struggles in today's competitive world. One concern (always in the back of your mind) is rank and advancement as you continue your training.  Another is teaching and advancing your students. We keep Dan testing costs to $100.00 and hold them at our Camps (2X yearly). We also will hold them at (after) a seminar at your dojo.

We will help you gain more knowledge and experiences within the Martial Arts, so you can take the knowledge and use it as You see fit in, Your Dojo !!!
